Permission on STAGING folder

Hi,

I am trying to setup a new branch in Teamsite 6.5SP3 but i am running into problem with permission. The problem is that the permission on the 'STAGING' folder is different then the permission on the branch folder resulting in users unable to view files in STAGING directory. The funny thing is that owner and group on the STAGING folder is the same as the branch. I know the STAGING folder is read-only...is there away to change the file permission on the STAGING folder? Keep on getting the permission denied error.

You cannot change the groups ownership of the Staging area. You should however, check to see if your submit.cfg is set properly. Use iwtestcfg to test those changes. The group and user defined in submit.cfg should be pushed tot he Staging area on submit.

Once you have that working, you will need to resubit all files to get it to work properly.

I am not talking about files under the staging folder , i am talking about the 'STAGING' folder itself. This folder has been greyed out and i can not even expend it on the Teamsite GUI. And the File permission on through IFS for the 'STAGING' folder and the branch folder are different. Users were able to update files but they could not view the files that they have submitted to staging.

Got it, do you have branch security turned on (check iw.cfg) ? Also, what OS ?

Thanks for the quick response.

We are running Teamsite TS65 Sp3 under windows 2000 SP4.

and we do have branch security on:

main_lock_model=submit_lock
main_owner=Administrator
main_group=Administrators
event_log_size=64
branch_security=on
workarea_security=off

In the the "WORKAREA" and "EDITIONS" folder the file permission is Everyone:READ and Teamsite Preview:ALL but the 'STAGING' folder is getting only Teamsite Preview:ALL and one more name of the person used to be the Administrator for the server.

resolved. I think the problem was because of the 'Base on' selection for the branch.

I assume you used inherit from parent when the branch was created. Were you able to change it without difficulty ?
