Deployment Agent FTP Connection through proxy

I am trying to setup a connection to an FTP server, but am not having any luck. We need to go through a proxy server to get outbound, and the documentation is vague at best on what the format of things need to be.

For my host name I put the ip address of the ftp server

I filled in username, password, etc.

For proxy server, do I put in a leaving http, do I need the port somewhere? I have tried all combinations I can think of, but it doesn't work.

The error message I get in a popup window is:


Error encountered: 0: Please verify your information and try again.

I read through some kb articles and figured out how to enable logging on the MB server, but don't see how I can on the deployment agent. The log file doesn't have much in there. Is there a place to adjust the level of information that gets logged, or a registry key I need to add?

If you are connecting to an FTP server with a Windows account, you will need to specify the full name of the user account exactly as you would when using command line FTP. It should be formatted as: domain\account. Example: interwoven\mbuser
Not sure if this might be your issue. You do not need to specify a port number unless you are not using the standard default FTP port (21).

It would be helpful to verify you can connect using command FTP from the server where the DA service is installed. If your proxy server is tranparent, you should not need to specify anything for it.

Based on the Microsoft documentation and the Win32 functions used by DA, the following conditions must be met when using a Proxy FTP server:
"The WinINet functions recognize only CERN type proxies (HTTP only) and the TIS FTP gateway (FTP only)."
You may want to verify what type of proxy server is deployed and the protocol used to determine if it is supported

Let me clarify:

The port number I was referring to is the proxy server port that I have to go to in order to even see the ftp server.

The ftp server is on a unix platform, so there is no need for a domain name.

Any idea where the connection trouble information gets logged?

I edited the previous post before realizing you responded. Look above. Your proxy server may not be supported.

DA doesn't provide any additional logging information. It's possible Windows may provide some additional information in the Event logs.
I believe the easiest way to resolve the issue is to first get command line FTP working. From the server where the DA service is installed, can you connect and put files through command line ftp?
Once you have it working, I believe you should be able to configure the same ftp server name and credentials to the DA form and it should work.
