calling ipl from workflow

i am calling an ipl from a workflow using an external task. i have used log4perl to log the values in the ipl. but it is not working n most often people use debug instead of log when they call an ipl from worflow. So is it that i cannot use log4perl in my ipl.

You can use, there may be other problems with your workflow or ipl. That is a perl module like other I feel there nothing special with it.

Better to use file system object and write all your logs within the same. It is easy to use and debug as per me.

You can use Log4Perl but then you have to make sure that you have that installed on you teamsite Perl libs and also then when you move the code have to put this module in you production server as well, so I would not recommend you to use this module.

For logs you can create .log files in your system at a predefined location and then can keep refering to log for debugging.

Isn't Log4perl installed with Teamsite in the iw-perl\vendor\lib folder? At least it is with 6.5. It's on both our DEV and PROD server.

Yes - Log::Log4Perl comes with TS 6.x (or at least 6.5 and newer) - and I'd recommend in favor of using it as it is a fairly standard module these days.

One reason you might have problems with it though is if the file being logged to has the correct permissions and is within a directory that has the correct permissions to allow all the various users of the script to be able to create and/or append data to the log file.

Hi, I am thinking maybe can you try the >$logfiles tag?

e.g command="$iwperl $script >$logfile";

because in command line, I can write the output of the perl script into a text file like that.
