Does WorkSite MP work with any Enterprise Search Engines like Verity, FAST TRACK, Google?

Hi,

Can u explain in briefly abt what you needed..whether u need to retrieve the google page inside worksite? or what kind of integartion you are trying.

No. I would like to know if documents hosted in WorkSite MP can be indexed and searched by any Enterprise Search products.

Yes, they can be indexed (you can use the WOM to write a crawler) but there are some issues:

1. Due to MP security, you will need to setup a special user that must have access to ALL content in ALL workspaces for the crawler to work.

2. The Enterprise Search Engines you mentioned have no concept of security. You may end up exposing content that should not be visible to everybody. Say you use Google and search for “layoff”. You may end up with a preview to a list of people to be laid off that should be kept confidential. To prevent that you would have to use MP to verify access on each hit before displaying it. This would be a very slow process through the WOM.

What do you need from the Enterprise Search Engines that the MP search does not give you?

Thanks. Worksite MP search works but we are looking for a search solution to search other intranet sites along with WorkSite MP to provide a common search results page.
