To scan virus in TeamSite server

With reference to this
4. The TeamSite server has a virus.

To resolve this issue, run antivirus software in a way that doesn''t modify files through TeamSite''s filesystem i.e. run the virus scanner directly against the backing store, but do not run the virus scanner against Y: drive, or iwmount. Run the antivirus software against whatever end user(s) are infecting the teamsite server as well to prevent future problems.

Why is it recommended not to run antivirus on the Y:\ or iwmount ?

Because the Y drive is a virtual drive.

And the virus software will try to run for every edition, which will basically mean it checks the same version of most files *many* times. Also, it will not be able to fix any files in editions or staging since they are readonly.

And, to add an insult to the injury all files it CAN fix in Workarea(s) will obtain SYSTEM as "Last Modified By" attribute

Agreed :-) ,the scan will be redundant, but what about the infected files in the workarea ? if any.

reread your first post:

run the virus scanner directly against the backing store

The backing store is the basic pieces that make up the Y: drive. So if you fix the iw-store, then Y: (and the workareas) will be fixed.
