How to fetch labels and descriptions from a DCT

Hi, I am unable to fetch labels and description programatically from one DCT and to display in other DCT.Can any one please help me.I know some thing about the process that i will have to use form API's getlabel and getitem and getdescription.How can i refer the old dct in new dct for fetching the labels.

What Pdt version and OS are you running .
Is this a upgrade or newly created DCTs ?

This is a new DCT to be prepared from which label and descriptions to be fetched out.

FormAPI is the instrument to manipulate DCRs and Data Capture Page/Form appearance in DCR Edit mode.
In other words, you need valid DCT that includes FormAPI modules + proper TS Type configuration to use FormAPI
during DCR editing.

The most direct way to do what you want is to parse existing datacapture.cfg (DCT) as XML File and use resulting XML
nodes to build a new datacapture.cfg File. Possible complications include the usage of inline commands (if any)
in the original DCT, etc...

What is the problem you are trying to solve? Are you creating some sort of "DCT Generator"?
