How to fetch labels and descriptions through XML

Hi, I have to fetch labels and descriptions from a DCT(1) and dynamically generate a DCT(2) with the labels from the previous one.I think it is possible through using XML and Using form API's.

As a DCT is XML - you should certainly be able to parse it with an XML parser and retrieve whatever you want from it ... and then dump out another XML file that could be used as a DCT.

Have you ever done any XML parsing programming before? Is that why you're asking how to fetch the labels and descriptions?

Are you comfortable with Perl programming - or are you looking for a solution in some other language (Java, C++, etc.)?

A bit more context, preferably with something showing what you've already tried and highlighting what is and is not working - would probably go a long way towards getting someone to respond more helpfully.
