How to load the controls(items) dynamically?

Hi All,

I have a requirement, could some one give some comments on it?

I have to populate the DCT, whn "New Form Entry".
I do not have any items in the datacapture.cfg.

I need to use formAPI/javascript to load the controls(items)
dynamically.

Is it possible? Any thoughts?

Try onload functionality. Use FormAPI pdf for reference. Write a JS function on this which hides/displays the items dynamically in the DCT.

Using FormApi you can achieve this but it has also limitation.
Please clear your requirement what type of items you want to generate on datacapture.cfg file.

Follow the below step.

1. make a xml file which you want as a dct
2. write a ipl to parese above xml
3. call this ipl as an inline inside dct

Is this correct? or do u have any sample code

Can you please explain this requirement in more detail? Perhaps with a use-case scenario? Maybe a simple cut-down version that demonstrates what you are trying to do?

You must have a DCT, and the DCT must be defined within templating.cfg before you can do a File > New Form Entry

The DCT could consist of the XML headers and an inline command directive (you might need to define the root-element first - can't remember) and the inline [Perl] script could do a bunch of "stuff" before printing out the full-fledged

string that defines the DCT along with pre-populated default values - alternatively you can use FormAPI to set default values for elements within the DCR being edited/created - but the reference to FormAPI code either needs to be within the DCT or within the result of the inline command script.

That's not "more" detail - that's the same level of detail previously provided just slightly re-worded.

If you cannot understand the request for more detail, how do you expect us to understand what you're asking for help with?

See you should have datacapture.cfg inside cat/datatype with minimal tags with the ghoti has pointed and this dct should have entry inside templating.cfg. This is the minimal requirement which TS server expects to open DCT on click on newform provided you are in that datatype.

On top of above you can do whatever you want using FormApi , JS and all...
