"Update Server Data Model" in WSMP5

I see a new feature "Update Server Data Model" in the Web Configuration Tool. However, description about it is not very clear: "Update server datamodel with current local version.".

I just want to clarify that does it mean to update the web application with the latestl updated WOM extended by using object modeler? If not, can anyone help tell me the actual functionality of this feature?
