Your question does not make a great deal of sense. However from what I gather, you have a group of HTML pages in a job, you want to automatically search the files for a certain string (URL to a PDF). If you find a link you (?) create a new java app & add it to the WF.An external task will do that easily. Regex to look for the string. Create the new file and use the WFTask pm to add the new file to the task. If you do this before the submittask, then the WF will take care of all the other work. Finally, 5.5.2 has been EOL (End of Life) for a fairly long time. You need to convince your boss to upgrade.HTHAndy
I probably didn't do a good job describing what actions I want to take (as you've stated).1) Author adds files to the workflow2) Workflow goes to the external task to check for PDF links in the files added a) External task regex's for PDF links in the document b) External task modifies PDF links in document. link changes from http://www.x.com/document.pdf to: http://www.x.com/app.do?file=http://www.x.com/document.pdf c) External task submits the changes to the files the author submitted to the workflow.3) Workflow continues with additional steps..There are no new documents added to the workflow.
