i was trying to do simple UI customization on teamsite... and i did almost exactly what the documentation said:

Example
To co-brand ContentCenter Professional, create an images subdirectory in:
iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web/ccpro
Place the custom logo in it, naming it logo.gif. After rebuilding the ContentCenter web application, the custom logo will appear next to the “powered by Interwoven” logo in ContentCenter Professional, but not ContentCenter Standard.

the only thing i did and wasnt in the doc, was that there is no teamsite folder under customer_src/web/ so i created teamsite folder to get to iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web/teamsite and i continued with what the doc said. i searchd on here and alot of people had similar problem but not enough input to fix it... any ideas?

this on TS 6.5 sp2 w2k3

and i run the command as described but i get "build fail"

The directory should be "iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web/ccpro/images".
Place your co-brand logo.gif image there and then:

cd iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src
iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl iw-home/bin/make_toolkit.ipl -jsp_precompile

Once again, you shoud "cd" to customer_src and run make_toolkit from there

Unless I missed something... Where did you get "teamsite" folder name from?

Remember, this "iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src" business is sort of mapping of TS assets to custom ones.
(Specifically, iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center to iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web).

Find the following File:

\iwhome\local\config/lib/content_center/toolkits.xml

Make sure that <toolkits> Tag in it contains the entry similar to:
<toolkit id="customer" path="D:\iwhome\local\config/lib/content_center/customer_out/customer.tk.war"/>
Make sure that Path attribute points to the existing Directory and try again

i thought they might have missed typed the path, but somebody can verify it on here??

iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web/teamsite/images,
didn't you?

What's you gonna lose? It's not working anyway. Check Page 26 and Page 114 of the document you've mentioned

yes i did place the image after creating /teamsite/images.. Smiley Happy

i dont know what i will lose, i just dont want to break it and have to go throu alot of debuggin to recover...
but i will delete the changes i made (adding images/image.gif..) and i will add the "custmor entry to toolkit.xml and run the make_toolkit.ipl in .../customer_src/ and i will see if the build will fail again or finish

version of the same file, the make_toolkit script may be unable to detect all the changes
that have been made. To force the complete rebuilding of the ContentCenter web
application from the source files:

clobber.
This will remove the previously built version of the toolkit.

I had this happen with a 6.5 / 6.5 SP2 upgrade on Windows once or twice - the "customer" entry had to be added manually to fix the problem.

Try re-running the make_toolkit.ipl.
If it doesn't work - remove / rename the image you are trying to use and try again.
If it still doesn't work - remove / rename the directory where the image resided and try again.

If the removing/renaming fixes it - then the problem is with the customization and you will probably need to dig deeper into the differences between the OOTB image and your custom image to figure out what's happening.

You should not be making any changes in the reference folder - that's there for, as the name implies, reference - to OOTB features and functionality.

No - it should not be doing that - I'd suggest checking the rewrite.conf and rewrite.conf.template files - if you (or someone else there) made changes there, then they need to be investigated.

I've reread the whole thread and toolkits.xml you've posted before looks a bit odd. Can you (re)post your toolkits.xml exactly as it is now, after you've modified it?
Did someone else make customization attempts (botched, looks like) before you?
Did you try to customize something less benign than co-branding image?

no i didnt try to change anything but the co-branding image (login splash and log by powered by after you login)... and i am the only one who is working on this. so nobody changed anything! it s all my fault Smiley Happy

Check Page 26 of Customization Guide. It shows "toolkits.xml". Try to make it like that, the only difference would be your iw-home.
(Right now only "customer" points to customer-out). If I were you, I would even retain peculiar mix of back/forward slashes, that's
exactly how it is on my servers.

Double check that directories you are pointing to exist and run ...make_toolkit.ipl -jsp_precompile.
Reboot the Server.

if you notice, mine is exactly like the one in page 26.. i guess that s how it is by default...
i have back up of iw-home i might jsut give up and use backup copy of iw-home...

it says that when we run make_toolkit.ipl iwwebd gets built from iw.cfg using iwwebd_conf.ipl... i checked the iw.cfg and it has the correct entries... i found some info about iw.cfg format being changed when using some kind of editors... but it looks to me fine...

any ideas to how to restore my ts to how it was before make_toolkit.ipl? please read the history on this before saying delete the changes i made Smiley Very Happy

now i jsut want to go back to zero ... i dont want to customize anything lol... i try to do wht the doc says " like deleting servlet\work\anything under" and the buld finishes but still, iwebd never starts = starts and stops immediatly.. it doesnt throw an error

Try to restart iwwebd once more and monitor following logs:

iw-home/iw-webd/logs/error.log
iw-home/iw-webd/logs/access.log

If nothing changes there check servlet engine logs:

iw-home/local/logs/iwui/servletd_err.log
iw-home/local/logs/iwui/servletd_out.log

It must be something there

Glad you've nailed it finally. My earlier phrase "What's you gonna lose..." made me feel somewhat guilty :-)
Please note that license_key is just about the only place in iw.cfg where you can (or rather should) use spaces.

I don't believe that's correct - I recall for a long time the license information sent by the license generator contained a trailing space on the license key value and it resulted in the license not being validated. Or perhaps you weren't talking about trailing white-space...?

Fortunately - as of 6.5SP2 - you no longer have license information in the iw.cfg file - it's now a separate file.
