Replicants data replaced by the previous data

I am Karam working on Teamsite 6.5 runnig on Solaris.
I am facing a peculiar scenario:
I have replicants in my DCT which also uses external Visual Format Editor.
I usually create a replicant and save the form. The problem comes when I need to create another replicant and move it on top of the previous one and save it....the content in the second replicant gets replaced with the previous one already saved in the same DCT.
Eg:
1) I create a replicant with content "Karam" and save it.
2) I publish the content....it works fine.
3) I edit the DCR and add another replicant with content "Teamsite" and move it above "Karam" and then save it.
4) I publish the content....The content "Teamsite" gets replaced with "Karam".
This also gets replaced in the DCR saved.

To resolve this issue, I tried embedding the Visual Format in the text area itself.....it worked perfectly well, but my client does not want it that way. He wants to have the Visual Format as an external functionality.

Does any one have an idea of how to resolve this issue with the Visual Format placed as an external button and not embedded.

Is the DCT of type "iwov" or type "xml"?
If of type "xml" - are you correctly specifying pathid attributes for the items, and location attributes for the containers?

It's possible you've discovered a bug in the system - but this is the first I recall hearing of this, which makes me think that it's either something in your configuration, or something about your environment that is causing the problem you are experiencing.
