Custome Commands in Visual Format editor

Hello,

I am trying to modify the Visual Format toolbar to add a dropdown list box, each element of which would add tags to selected text.

For example, 2 choices, BigText and SmallText , and the the tags needed to added are
< span class="big"> & < span>
AND
< span class="small"> & < span>
respectively.


I did read the manual and have added the dropdown list box to the menubar, but would like some advice on how to add the Javascript necessary to make this work.If someone has created custom commands please post advice as to the best method to make this work.
