td tag attribute resetting in visual format

We have a XHTML content class which uses visualformat external editor. When I update the following code
&amp;amp;lt;"td class="v14-header-2" valign="middle" nowrap="nowrap" align="left"&amp;amp;gt;some data&amp;amp;lt;/td&amp;amp;gt;
in the code section of the editor, it gets reset to
&amp;amp;lt;td class="v14-header-2" valign="center" nowrap="nowrap" align="left"&amp;amp;gt;some data&amp;amp;lt;/td&amp;amp;gt;
Though we user a stylesheet within the visualformat xml, I don't find any attribute valign customized here. Can someone tell me the reason why the valign="middle" gets reset to valign="center".
Is it any known issue in VFE. Any thoughts to resolve this..

this is normal behaviour to my knowledge. Are there any issue you are facing with this? Why are you not using the valign tag in your stylesheet class itself?

But do you mean to say that an invalid attribute for td tag is allowed in VFE and let that reset the input by a user.

nope, that is not what I want to say that an invalid attribute for td tag is allowed in VFE and let that reset the input by a user.But I think valign="center" will work with any code. That is what my question to you is. Are you facing any issues while displaying?

This may be as well a bug with VFE if the above is not working in which case, you will have to replace the tag using some formapi and javascript and click the function onChange.

But I really do not think, you will have any issues with valign="center"

Also, why dont you put this into your Stylesheet. Is that a problem?

The problem that I face is, since &amp;amp;lt;td valign="center"&amp;amp;gt; either don't exist or is deprecated. So our testing tool won't pass this code and have raised them as a bug.

Ah - that's a different issue.
Short of getting it fixed by the vendor (which I think you'll have a hard time doing in a reasonable time frame) I can think of two possible work-arounds:
