Preferred Database Migration Tool 8.0
mikeneumann
We currently use DocsOpen as our ECM tool. We are implimenting WorkSite 8.2 and are in the process of defining our migration plan. Part of the plan is to possibly use the Preferred Database Migration Tool that is provided by Interwoven. I cannot find any documentation that states what DBs the tool is compatible with.
Our version of DocsOpen is using Sybase for the metadata storage. Does the Preferred Database Migration Tool work with Sybase?

Hi Mike, maybe I'm wrong andI haven't understand your message, but if you are planning a migration proccess from one system to another, with a massive doc import proccess, the pref. db migrator tooll will not help you.
This tool is used to change user's details which are in a worksite library to another, but it is not related with import documents.
Maybe it would be usefull for you a tool called Interwoven ASCII Import tool
Hope this helps, if I'm wrong...forget this message

Thanks Javi, for the message.
Interwoven actaully provides a tool to migrate documents from an existing ECM tool to the WorkSite application. This tool is called the Preferred Database Migration Tool. It helps map existing meta date from the old ECM application to meta data in WorkSite and also phisically moves the documents into the new application.
I agree, if you are just doing a massive import of documents from a repository into WorkSite, you would just use the ASCII Import tool provided by Interwoven. But this is a migration and not an import.
Again, I appreciate your response and thanks for your time.
My main question is if the Preferred Database Migration Tool can be used with Sybase or not.
