Fixed calendar perl module to work with firefox

There is a perl module in the tech library (Script: 53105, Title: TS Forms Publisher Calendar Callout) that generates a calendar for DCTs.

It didn't work in firefox, so I have attached to this post an updated version that does. enjoy Smiley Wink

I haven't looked at the code or anything, but your callout seems strange

/iw-bin/btgsportal/templating/metadata/calendar_callout.ipl/allow_past_dates=0

On the face of it, this seems more logical:

/iw-bin/btgsportal/templating/metadata/calendar_callout.ipl?allow_past_dates=0

its working now....issue was with improper path of perl declaration
Its takes around a minute to load the calendar...is this normal for any cgi or does it need any code modification

what's your platform? There is extremely little Perl in that CGI anyway, so I don't see why it could take more than a few seconds.

(off-topic: I think it's inefficient to use both CGI_lite and CGI in the code, but not nearly to the extend that it adds up to a minute)

log on the server and execute this:

$iwhome/httpd/iw-bin/new_calendar.ipl
and see what happens.

Most likely you get one of 2 errors, either a bad shebang line or the file is not executable.

Got this error :

Like I said, bad shebang line. You got that from a DOS box which uses CR/LF while Unix only uses LF (you need to get rid of the control-M at the end of the line)

Use vi (or another editor) to remove the control-M at the end of the 1st line.

You could also use dos2unix to remove it as well.

I am using the code as enclosed in the attachment and i am getting the output enclosed. I was expecting that user can select any date therefore i have passed the value 1 as suggested in the Knowledge Base Article: 53105 (http://support.interwoven.com/kb/kb_show_article2.asp?ArticleID=53105)

True, but that doesn't mean we have to abandon perl or other methods... CGI task is intended to invoke cgi script which can get you the perl calender you need without the hassle of figuring out your java code, then how to invoke it...

i make my decision of using perl or java based on how much effort is involved. if cssdk is the quick easy way, then i go for java. if it is a quick script then perl... Perl is a sweet fast way of getting things done Smiley Happy

Take a look at [post=92779]this[/post] post. It illustrates how to use TS own calenadr in DCT, with minor changes I've used it for the WFTs and my own CGIs as well.
You'll need neither Perl nor Java, just little JS to set it up in the Page. It's a hack though...

Just to update you guys that

/iw-bin/btgsportal/templating/metadata/calendar_callout.ipl?allow_past_dates=0

this will disable the allow_past_dates=0 functionality, instead of '?' use '/'
