Document number in Footer

Does anyone have a way that when you open a document that it will automatically put the document number in the footer without wiping out any previous footer unless it already has the document number in the footer?

There are sample footer macros you may refer to that will help you understand how to catch the DocumentOpen event to check whether the activedocument is a Worksite document, then foot the document. You may add your own Word Object Model method in this event function to check whether or not a footer is already inserted.

I don't know which version of WorkSite you have so I won't be able to guide you to a specific footer sample technote. You may, however, search for footer macros in the support site for the version that is right for you.
