Media Bin--> Upload issues-->error returned from altercast
Akshayg
Hi,
I am having an issue with our Media Bin system, some times while trying to upload the PSD or EPS files to Media bin via Web client the following error is returned
"Error returned from Altercast"
I do not know where to look for it as log does not give any info on the error details.
Do you guys have faced such error and if yes how can this be resolevd?
Thanks in advance!
Akshay

What version of MediaBin are you running?
Generally we diagnose problems such as this by running AGS outside MediaBin however there is really not much that can be done about it. Adobe stopped officially supporting PSD and EPS format with Photoshop 7. Although in practice they support a large number of files produced in Photoshop CS and later, they will not provide a list of features that would disqualify an image.
As of MediaBin 4.6, AGS is not necessary for image ingestion and therefore it may be a good alternative if you can feasibly upgrade. Unfortunately, as of this time Adobe has not planned any upgrade to AGS to bridge the gap.

Hello Lyman,
thanks for your reply.
We are using Media Bin 4.5 but will soon be upgrading to 4.6
However the strange thing is that for the same PSD file we do not receive this error on our test server which is also using 4.5
the only difference between our test and live is that on live we have Flip factory server as well.
Do you think Flip factory server could be the cause of the issue keeping all other things same?
Thanks for your replies

This smells suspiciously lie a configuration problem. If you provide the exact files to support they will be able to run the exact AGS script outside of the context of AGS and see exactly what is not working.
A quick sanity check is to run "altercast -version" from a command prompt and verify that it states "Adobe Servers d013". This will also verify that ags is in the command path.
