InDesign Plugin - Unable to connect to server
Bill Klish
MediaBin 4.5.3
Adobe InDesign CS2
Windows XP SP2
HTTP for InDesign version 4.1.5
I have followed the instructions to install the InDesign plugin on my PC. However, when I attempt to enter my user authentication information, I get a popup window with the message "Unable to connect to server."
I can't seem to find any log information, so I am not sure where to begin. If I open a web browser and put in the exact IP address string as I have it inside of the HTTP for InDesign preferences, I am prompted with a username and password, which I enter, the same as I did inside InDesign and I am shown a list of all the web service operations.
Interestingly, I attempted to execute the GetTaskByName steps as mentioned in the install guide, but I don't get a username/password box, but instead am asked for a session string and task name. So that concerns me.
I am guessing that something in web.config is not configured correctly.

Check the plugin's log file for errors...I believe it is created by default in c:\temp.

I installed patch 1771 and it seems to have taken care of the connectivity issues.
Your installer doesn't setup the plug-in's web services framework correctly on the mediabin server, so I had to spend time debugging that.

Have any improvements been made to the inDesign plugin for MB 4.6.1? We'd like to use it but I'm not confident it's ready for Production.
Thoughts from those of you that have installed it and are using it?
Thanks

Hi,
' implemented InDesign plug-in and it supports CS2 ( interwoven support)
As per my experience, I will recommend to use the association rather
than using InDesign plug-in ,
If you explain the requirement , I can tell more
Thanks

We are actively working on patches to the INDesign plug-in and so be sure to contact support to request the most up to date version if you have issues.
