TeamSite username

Hi All, can TeamSite username consist of dot ( . ) charecter?
will that break any functionality?

the reason is we have a bunch of TeamSite username coming in, and some of them consist of dot ( . ) charecter.

Environment:
TeamSite 6.5 SP2 work on Windows Server 2003

I've done a POC, it seems that the system support it.

Not Seen any such issue on TS 6.1. Moreover... never heard of any such in devnet or own network.

It is better to check with Support. I don't think it will be an issue as far as authentication is concerned because username mapping should be successful wherever it does.
However, there may be problems which may come up later. Keep tracking it.

The most likely place for this to break is with scripts that attempt to use some sort of regex comparison on or with the userid and which doesn't take into account the need to escape the dot within the userid to prevent it being treated as an "any-character" directive.

Other than that, if the OS doesn't mind - TS shouldn't mind.

To confirm that last statement, we have a client that has used periods in their usernames (both for local and AD accounts) on TS5.5.2 and 6.5 without any negative effects on TS functionality. (Windows Server 2000 and 2003)
