TS 6.7.1 on Win

I cannot get this iwadduser to run donno why...?

I never heard of this command before, but I can tell you that on my Solaris installs, the iw-home/bin/iwadduser.ipl does exist in TS 6.5 sp2, but not in TS 6.7.1.

Probably been yanked, because the new roles are maintained differently. Try your luck with the new commands (iwuseradm and iwaccess)

I think this command has gone away with the Admin GUI and/or flex roles. I cannot find it anywhere on my 6.7.1 install.

You will need to use the GUI I am afraid.

It's documented still in both Windows and Unix "TeamSite® Command-Line Tools Release 6.7". The difference is an "ipl"
extension, that's for Windows only (btw that's the case in 6.5 as well). Lilley platform is apparently Windows so perhaps something
like the following *might* work for her:

<iw-home>\iw-perl\bin\iwperl.exe <iw-home>\bin\iwadduser.ipl -user dliwd51\tester1 -roles admin,editor,author

No it will not work,, since if you se bin directory there is no file as "iwadduser.ipl"...

But i was trying to set permissions to a user on 6.7.1 can anyone suggest me a easy way..

Understood, all I'm saying is that it's documented still in 6.7 manuals. Perhaps it's a Documentation bug, who knows...
That and the fact that in the original post Lilley used (sort of) command's Unix syntax in Windows environment

TS67 doesn't have any commands to assign roles, only add/delete users (using iwuseradm) and set master users. Since the new permission model assigns roles on a per-branch basis, the developers apparently thought this was too complex for a CLT. The Admin guide still refers to iwadduser.ipl, but my guess is that they've just forgotten to take that out of the doc.

So the gist of this is if a user is not added as "Master" he still has permission to login to teamsite, he can be any of the other 3 roles, but he will not be a Master.

I remember settings up roles from some CLT, i am not sure if that was on 6.7.1.

Yea life in 6.7.1 is different.

You assign a role in the GUI per branch. From CC Pro, Actions -> Manage Branches select Users and Roles and Add Users as Role.

Yeah, in 6.7 the login screen does not ask you for a role because it depends on which branch you're in. Also, don't forget that in 6.7.1, it's not limited to three other roles, there's also custom roles and the predefined ones can be deleted.. That also adds to the complexity.

THERE ARE COMMANDS to administer users and roles, which I mentioned in my first post: the new commands iwuseradm and iwaccess.

Run "iwaccess help", "iwaccess help add-permission-entry", "iwuseradm help add-user"

& RTFM for details :cool:
