setting display name for teamsite user

Teamsite 6.7.1 - Solaris 10

The CCPRO interface displays all users name as "TEAMSITE".Hope thats the default display name teamsite uses before setting display name.I tried to set display name for a user usning iwuseradm CLT.But its giving error as follows.

/bin/iwuseradm set-display-name author123 jack
ERROR:00048: Operation not supported

please advice.

When it is displaying as TEAMSITE, thru which login id you have logged on the system? Root or Admin user?

As i have also upgraded from TS 6.1 to Ts 6.7.1... and not facing any such issues. Also check if you have proper permissions to run CLTs.

it's been mentioned on devnet, and IIRC it is in the release notes of 6.7.1 that set-display-name is not implemented option for iwuseradm. It's just mis-documented elsewhere.

The display name is taken from /etc/passwd if you are using Solaris OS users. There seems to be a process that occasionally refreshes the display names from /etc/passwd, because updates in the file are not reflected immediately, but (in our experience) can take up to 24hrs to be seen. Or do a full TS restart for immediate update. I wish this were better documented via a technote or in the docs, but alas.

Is it the default behaviour in Teamsite 6.7.1.please find the screenshot in attachment.

Can you show us the entry in /etc/passwd from the TS server for one of these users? Or are you using LDAP / PAM ?

I believe that explains it quite clearly - the GCOS field - is where the "friendly" name comes from - and it's apparently been set to TEAMSITE for this (and likely the other) user(s).

If you were to get that changed so that it said "TS_Admin" - then (eventually? after iwreset?) you would see all files modified by this user with "TS_Admin" in the UI.

Basicaly - you need to get the GCOS field for the passwd file entries "fixed"

We have the same entires in /etc/passwd file in Solaris 8 server with Teamsite 6.1 SP1 but we are getting the dispaly names properly.I doubt how its not working in Teamsite 6.7.1 server.

For migration purpose we copied/merged /etc/passwd and /etc/group files. Is there any difference in Teamsite 6.7.1 functionality to display user names in CCPRO interface compared to Teamsite 6.1.

I believe the difference is that TS6.1 (and anything before 6.7.1) was using the usernames in the GUI and 6.7.1 is now using the display names to show ownership, and the actual usernames are shown in the tooltips only.

Correct - prior to 6.7.1 it was userids only, 6.7.1 attempts to display the contents of the GCOS field. If the GCOS field is blank, the userid will be used. But in this case since the GCOS field has TEAMSITE in it, that's what's being shown.

Either fix or clear-out the GCOS field in the /etc/passwd entries and the problem should be resolved.

Even we had the same issue where we had to clean up the etc/password file with description field getting changed to the uid.
