Locks

Hi,
I am a summer intern currently testing out the teamsite,i would appreciate if any body can help with the lock issue,
consider the situation if author2 locks a file that he is working on in a workarea , suppose the editor of the workarea wants to submit the file that is locked by author2 to author1 to make some changes, will the changes made by author1 be applied to the file if he is able to do so or the editor can submit only when author2 removes the lock ,please correct me if there is anything wrong in this question
thanks
Raghav

short answer is that it depends on your locking model.
If you are using the default, submit lock, then no user other than the one who holds the lock may submit the file. Once that person has submitted, others may submit their changes, but will have to go through the conflict resolution process (or just be mean and check the overwrite box).

PS)Technically, this should have gone in the main TeamSite forum rather than the workflow forum.

Well, according to TS support there is an option of " lock='t' " on most tasks. That SHOULD transfer lock ownership of all files attached (don't forget to attach both DCRs and any generated HTML) to the task owner. This is actually important so if you have a 3 step approval process, the originator looses the locks so once the first approval step starts, they can't make additional changes.
