Event Subsystem Problem

All of our workflow tasks hang on "Publication Pending - Wait For Live Date" even though the publication date has passed. The only way to get the tasks to transition is to click "Deploy Immediately".

Ever since we stopped restarting TeamSite & related services each night, we're now experiencing this problem every few days. To fix it we've been doing the following per Interwoven's advice:

1. Stop all TeamSite services
2. Move all the .properties files in iw-home/servletd/logs to the temporary folder
3. Move all the files in iw-home/local/logs/iwevents to a temporary folder
4. Empty out the messages and message_handles table
5. Start all TeamSite services
6. Restart OpenDeploy

I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on why this is happening so frequently, and possibly advise on a solution that doesn't require doing the steps I've listed above every few days.

In addition to the publishing issue, we're also experiencing the following which I believe is related:

- dummy task used to wait for 5 minutes continues to wait forever
- entries to DAS tables aren't taking place

I think you have reached the right conclusion as these are all the symptoms of Event Subsystem not working correctly. Its really had to say "why" it is failing without looking at the details of your implementation, logs, etc.

What is the status of Event Subsystem service when you have this "publishing issue"? Have you looked at the logs (for events, servletd, etc.) for any information? Also what is the size of your messages and message_handles tables?
