Obtain Current Username

Hi Everyone,

Need little assistance from the iwov guru - I have DCT where I am calling current_username.ipl and based on user login Active Directory places in current username. Now let says different user goes in and edit content.

My problem - current username field isn't capturing different user name.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

You have various problems with that approach. In your inline you're creating something like the following substitution[html]
Foo Moo
[/html]However, "readonly" tag may have only "allowed" and "callout" nested tags. You can certainly change your inline code to generate[html]

Boo Hoo[/html]That may even work. Once. After your first user saves new DCR default will be no longer applicable and an Item will stay unchanged.

What you probably want to do is modify your DCR ( not DCT! ) using FormAPI callServer method on "onSaveValid" or some such event

I tried what you suggested regarding readonly change to current_username.ipl and I get no username in the DCT now. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for all the assistance.

Do you know for fact that you get anything at all from your LDAP query?

To test, hardcode (temporarily) $user_name to a valid UID and run it from the
command line mode. Check if what's printed is what you expect for DCT substitution

You'd have to debug it. Add logging into your Inline script and see what happens during *real* Forms Publisher execution.
Make sure that you do that using "New Form", default won't apply for existing one. Post your (modified?) Inline and DCT along
with the problem explanation

Assuming it worked the first time, that callout only happens the first time you create a DCR. As has been said, if you want it to be modified when a user edits it, you have no choice but to use FormAPI's callServer to call your script, parse the result and use JavaScript to update the field, possibly on an onSaveValid event. That's the only way to get perl to update your DCR.
