Queries on LiveSite 3.0
HarryPaul
Hi
I would like to know that if LiveSite 3.0 will provide more dynamism in components behavior and also if there is a possibility of having JavaScript validations within the component i.e. datum level validations.
Following are some of my queries with regard LS 3.0
1. Does LS3.0 introduces any kind of event handling in component (like we have them in TeamSite FormPublishers where we can capture most of the form events like submit, generate etc)?
2. Is it possible to have datum level validations through JavaScript from within component, similar to TeamSite FormPublishers where we can impose validations on the form elements through JavaScript?
And for example by using JavaScript can we show/hide a datum/group within component based on certain conditions, like on click of some check box or radio button. Since same is possible within TeamSite templates by use of the JavaScript but not sure if similar functionality can be achieved in LiveSite3.0.
3. Can we make cgi-callouts from within components?
4. Can we create custom datum types?
Thanks
Paul

The answer to all of the above is, no. Component properties are designed for quicker, simpler component construction and configuration than full-fledged Forms Pub. If you need this level of flexibility, you can Forms Pub to create Form Entries and then use the DCR Datum to import the Form Entries into components.
We have considered the idea of merging Forms Pub and component properties into one single data-capture UI. But that would be part of a longer-term vision about how to best manage component content, and won't be included any time soon (if at all).
