Another issue that I really don't understand is that when I make the field hidden and when I set Metadata using presentation tpl. Upon generation when I look at properties. Set metadata for the field is empty. It should get test@yahoo.com

Attaching files for reference...

Thank you.....

You posted the DCT, however the problem you described is in the TPL.

Post your DCR and the TPL you are using to generate

Here's the DCR sample and TPL Sample code that I am using....

So your default value is not getting populated. You may want to do some logging in the perlscript and see if it is being run.

Hi Nipper,

I even tried removing IPL that is associated with it and placed all the item value as part of DCT. Once I removed hidden with in item. It does appear they way I want it. As soon as I placed hidden tag back with in item. I get no value being return.

I have tried log IPL it returns blank when hidden is with in IPL and soon as I remove hidden out. log captures default value.

Strange isn't?

One way I can do is make it readonly but client doesn't want field to show up on DCT.

So there are multiple ways to hiding something, you can do this in FormAPI

IWDatacapture.getItem("/Root/page/BluePortEmail").setVisible(false);

Nipper! You wouldn't believe it but I had tried FORMAPI too! It same scenario happens there. If I setvisible false it works and if true than its blank.

Really driving be nutts. Should be minor change. Don't u agree?

The following is the excerpt from the TeamSite® FormsPublisher Developer’s Guide Release 6.5

<hidden>
Specifies that the data will not be shown in the data capture form. A <hidden> field may receive data from a callout
program. Note: You cannot currently specify a default value.

What you *could* do is use FormAPI to un-hide-populate-hide
