Problem with role based custom menu access

Hi,
TS 6.7.1, Win 2003 Enterprise Server

Im Upgrading from 6.1 SP2 to 671.
After upgrade, i've updated the relevant xml files for the display of a custom menu. After i ran make_toolkit.ipl, it works well only for the master. Not for any other. I've explictly set the permission in roles_custom.

Any quick help is appreciated coz, its a production machine upgrade and i need to fix this in few hrs.

First - get rid of the roles_custom.xml file - I don't believe that make_toolkit.ipl will work if it is present in the customer_src tree (renaming it and or moving it into a sub-folder or sibling folder will not work - it must be removed from that entire directory structure)

Secondly - Read the UI Customization Guide - the section entitled Restricting Custom Links by TeamSite Role (again, as the above seems to indicate you've read it at least once) - the userops configuration file is defining a role-attribute, which you now have to add (or remove) from the various roles that you allow users to have on the various branches.

There's probably a way to do this from the command line, but I think this is one of the cases where the Administration Tab truly makes it easier.

For us we required specific menu links under file drop down which gets linked to cgis.Made userops_cutom.xml correctly.

We have run make_toolkit.ipl but the menu items are not appearing.

Now as mentioned in previous thread, logged into Administration module and entered into the section "Manage Roles".. Clicked on Edit Role for Administrator.
There "Custom User Operations" is having two options "More detail" and "Less detail". But on clicking those they are not working.

Ideally we need to have menu items linked to cgis in the File drop down.

You mention userops_custom.xml - which configures restrictions for custom menu items - but it is not the place where you define the custom menu items - that's done in ui_custom.xml -- did you edit that file too? before you ran the make_toolkits.ipl?

As Ghoti said, the custom menu items are placed in UI_CUSTOM.XML and roles_custom.xml are configured in roles.xml. Both these files are located at :

iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/etc/conf/customer

Remember to run maketoolkit.ipl from the following folder
iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src

Most importantly all your cgis are placed under iw-home/httpd/iw-bin

and within in the ui_custom.xml the cgi should wrapped

eg. /iw-bin/wdpro_menu.ipl/

roles_custom.xml is NOT used in 6.7.1 - userops_custom.xml is -- but the menu items still need to be defined in ui_custom.xml first.
