Shortcut to open MailSite Word document read-only?
GeorgeJ
How, if at all, can I create a Windows shortcut that opens a particular MailSite document read-only? I created a Windows shortcut that includes a link to the MailSite document. Clicking the shortcut opens the document with Microsoft Word read/write. The short cut target contains: "\\servername\home\gjakobsche\My Documents\Paralegal assignments.nrl"
Is there a qualifier that I can add to the target, or elsewhere, to force Microsoft Word to open the document read-only?

You can set NRL file to launch with WorkSite viewer as read only rather then native application

Thanks, that sounds promising. However, I am unfamiliar with the format of NRL files. How would I set the NRL file to launch WorkSite's viewer, rather than the native application (Word) for this document?
Currently, the NRL file contains:
"servername
!nrtdms:0:!session:sessionname:!database:databasename:!document:574312,1:"
where "servername," "sessionname" and "databasename" contain our actual names.

You can set in your windows application type .NRL.
Under Windows Explore/Folder Option/File Type

Thanks, but setting the action that Windows takes upon opening an NRL file would change the action Windows takes upon opening all NRL files. Usually, when I double-click on an NRL file, I want the native application to open the file identified by the NRL file. However, in this case, I am hoping to define the action Windows takes upon opening only this NRL file.
Can the contents of the NRL file dictate which application (such as the WorkSite viewer) is used to open the file that the NRL file identifies?

The answer is no.
Look like the only solution is set the default security to VIEW
