Preview does not work when a workarea's group is set to TS group using iwchgrp clt

Hello,

The preview (using a TPL) of a form brings up an error that it is unable to find the templatedata folder (which is set as the directory for the HTML generation for preview).

This error occurs when the workarea's group is changed to a TS group. The TS group includes the OS domain groups but when any user belonging to those OS groups tries to preview, they get this error. All other functionality within that workarea seems to be working fine.

If the logged in user is the creator/owner of the workarea, then the preview works. If the workarea group is changed to be a OS domain group, the users of that domain group are able to preview without a problem.

The issue could boil down to the point that assigning a TS group to a workarea may not translate granting the privileges on the workarea for preview to the OS groups which are part of that TS group.

Any suggestions/recommendations/workarounds are appreciated.

check permission on your tpls. They should as well have permissions set to the TS Group. Pls note, when you change workarea groups using iwchgrp, that does not change permissions on all the files in your workarea. You will have to set permissions on the files to use the TS group.

The best workarround is to do it on your OS level, by changing OS group to iwglobal, and your files will take the TS group automatically. (Assumption, files in your workarea are set to inherit permissions)

Thank you for the response.

I was able to get the preview working after checking the "Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propogate to this object and all child objects ...." under the Advanced Security Settings for the workarea folder using the Windows Properties->Security tab.

The workareas are created as part of the workflows using iwmkwa clt. How can I set the "Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propogate to this object and all child objects ...." to automatically be set when a new workarea is created? Do I do that outside of the TS process or is it something that can be configured at the branch level? (This is on Windows 2003 SP1 & TS 6.5 SP2)

Good idea though.. This can be a good candidate for a feature Request on TS Groups

Is the FR for TS Groups - or for iwmkbr and/or iwmkwa? I would think you'd want an additional flag for those commands to "allow inheritance" or some such - regardless of whether you're working with OS groups or TS groups -- though possibly only if you're working on Windows (since I don't think the issue applies to Unix)

On a second thought - it could apply to unix in the form of having the setgid bit (chmod g+s) set on the branch / workarea directory - though I'm not sure if that big will get set on all sub-directories automatically (don't remember) - it was in this latter case that I was thinking it didn't apply because Unix doesn't have this "inheritance" concept.

ah alright.. you are right.. The group bit would not automatically apply to sub directories...
