File is locked by forms publisher

Hi All,

A file can get locked in three ways:

(1) Locked by editing.
(2) Locked by submitting to a Workflow.
(3) Locked by Form Publisher.

Under what circumstances a file can get locked by Forms Publisher.
In other words, what does this really mean?

Because you take certain steps to unlock a file which depends on how it gets locked in the first place.

If you edit a generated file (that is indicated as such by having the proper EAs on it) then both the generated file and the DCR from whence it was generated will be locked. If you then unlock either the generated file or the DCR, the other will remain locked (unless you provide some customization).

Note: for some users at one site I was working at, TeamSite seemed to recognize this and offer to unlock the other file ... but I was never able to verify that myself.
