search condition for multivalue metadata

peter_choe

i am trying to do a search for a multivalued metadata field.

i put the following search profile in:
EXT::APDOCTYPES_RSID.EXT::NAME = "checks"

and get the following error:

com.imanage.cms.exceptions.library.CMSConditionParseException: Invalid value: check for field: EXT::APDOCTYPES_RSID
at com.imanage.cms.t1.db.cmsdatabase.condition.builder.ConditionBuilderHelper.validateFieldAndValueTypes(ConditionBuilderHelper.java:218)

....

is there a way to search a multivalued field? if yes, what is the syntax that i should use?

Hi Peter,
I don't know if this helps because I'm just starting to use Worksite. I'm currently studying the documentation about Complex Search Condition. It's in the WOM Developer Guide pdf file, Chapter 12 Page 220. They show some segment of the example code.

A quick question here:
Maybe it seems too easy for everyone here but I am new to jsp. I assume the code is in Java. If I want to put a code in the *.jsp file in XML format and show it in the connector, where should I put the code? doesn't seems to work. Anyone here have the template or example?

Create SearchArgument say sArg.
sArg.setProfileCondition("EXT::NAME LIKE \"%check%\"");
library.searchMetadata("EXT::APDOCTYPES",sArg);
look at SearchArgument methods for paging results as well.

actually, i was looking to search metadata values on documents, not just searching for the actual metadata.

i sort of have it working where i can look up the rsid of the metadata and doing a search for it, but if i have multiple fields in the metadata, it doesn't work.

try
document.getPropertyValueCollection("EXT::APDOCTYPES_RSID");
which returns a collection of Metadata objects, for each of which you can do a myMeta.getPropertyValue("EXT::NAME"), where myMeta is an iterated Metadata object from the collection.

I assume setPropertyValue is used to change the property of a field. I tried to set the value of a metadata but the property is not changed. May I know why is this happening?

I can get the value using the getPropertyValueCollection ~DOCSTATE_RSID
and then iterate them using getPropertyValue.~ NAME & ~SID

I tried to set the value of NAME or SID or BOTH but all work around doesnt update the value.

you will need to get the actual metadata object and set the property of the metadata object.

//where md is the metadata object
md.setPropertyValue("EXT::NAME", "Name");

To associate a document with a metadata record:
1. Search library for the table with values of the sub fields, if they are there(ideally one record), one will extract the "EXT: Smiley Frustrated

ID" of the metadata record and set it as the metadata field name associated with the document.

So in your case:

sArg.setProfileCondition("EXT::NAME LIKE \"%check%\"");
library.searchMetadata("EXT::APDOCTYPES",sArg);

would either return a record or multiple records. If atleast one is found you can update the document with

document.setPropertyValue("EXT::APDOCTYPES_RSID",metadata.getPropertyValue("EXT:ID"));

There is a setPropertyValueCollection API to associate mulitple records to a document if the document property (EXT::APDOCTYPES_RSID) is multi-cardinal.

If none was found,meaning the Library table does not have a record matching you search criteria, you will have to create a metadata record:

md = library.createMetadata("EXT::APDOCTYPES");
md.setPropertyValue("EXT::NAME","check");
md.update()

this now creates a record for you in the table. To associate this record with a document

document.setPropertyValue("EXT::APDOCTYPES_RSID",md.getPropertyValue("EXT:ID"));
document.update();

All setPropertyValue calls update your in-memory objects . To save the changes do a object.update().

My mistake was using setPropertyValue on EXT: Smiley Frustrated

ID instead of setPropertyValue on EXT::APDOCTYPES_RSID. Thanks a lot for the guide.

Is verify() or refresh() needed everytime I use setPropertyValue()?

I have question about how the existing WSMP jsp page update the value of the property. For example, when we approve a Review, there should be a script using setPropertyValue to set property of a field after initiating submit() function. May I know where is the script or JSP page located? I'm uncertain of where to add my script. Any advice?

I created a button that leads to a script that will set and update the property value. However, only user with full control are able to perform update() function. If user without enough privileges press the button, the loop will break once they reach update() thus unable to change the value of a field.

Is there any alternative I can work out to grant any user to set and update the value? Which API method can I use? Thanks!
