Configuring OD after livesite installation

Hi,

In the livesite installation manual it is mentioned that certain things need to be done in OD base before livesite installation. I have installed livesite on my dev box but i haven't performed the OD configuration steps. What will be the impact of this? Can I configure OD afterwards?
