Regenerating pages from command line

From the TeamSite FormsPublisher's Developers guide, the iwregen command can be used to regenerate an HTML file. Is there an equivalent command to regenrate asp pages from the command line? What is the reason behind having commands specific to html pages ( like iwgen/iwregen)

iwgen and iwregen... both can be used to generate any kind of page. You have to pass the file path and name with extension as what type of file you want to generate using the CLTs.

iwgen and iwregen both can generate ouput in any kind of file format (asp, jsp etc), it all depends on your file extension and code inside your tpl.

I am trying to generate an asp page, from an already existing DCR and a new presentation template. the tpl and DCR exist in different data-types. The command, error message and templating.cfg are attached. Is such a file generation possible?

I'm not sure whether this kind of file generation is possible or not but can't you generate the file in same WORKAREA and Datatype and then copy it to the desired location. You may wirte a batch file for this.

I have to re use the same presentationt template to generate pages from several DCRs(their data types and categories vary). Adding and configuring the same presentation template (in templating.cfg) , under the data types of corresponding DCRs does not a seem like the best solution.
Any suggestions?

I don't know whether it is the best solution, but it is certainly the simplest.

You could always have a look at iwpt_compile.ipl in iw-home/bin which may help you with what you are trying to achieve. If you run the script, it will echo back usage details.

First - iwgen expects vpaths, not file system paths - though it might work with either - especially if you're using the default store.

Second - your templating.cfg snapshot only shows a single data-type definition, and the reference for the presentation template is indicated as being within that data-type's presentation directory, and iwgen tends to parse templating.cfg to verify its arguments.

You can try using a dot-relative path for the presentation template specification (e.g.: ../janhavi2/presentation/new_work.tpl) or you can do the more supported mechanism of having the janhavi/presentation/new_work.tpl consist of an iw_include statement of the ../janhavi2/presentation/new_work.tpl
