deployment is not working

Hi,

I have one workflow for the deployment. It is submitting the files to the staging and then deploying to the server.
When I am doing deployment for the few files then it is working.
But when I selected about 200 files then it is hanged up and after a long time it is giving error 404. Even the submitted files are also not coming to the staging area.
Is there any limit for the files deployment?

OD works with any number of files.

There may be some issue with an external task you run. Or I have seen the WF start be awful slow when a large number (for me 500 or so) files were selected.

You need to specify what WF, OS, and TS version.

What cud be the problem with external task.
I have tested it for 30 files and working for 30 files.

The times I have seen it were (I think) caused in the template_script. The webserver has a timeout, usually about 5 minutes. So if the template_script takes longer then you get the error.

What I have done before is start the WF with a external task (that is not subject to the 5 minute timeout), that reads each attached object and, if it is a dir, grabs all modified files under the dir and attaches them to the workflow.

Thus if the 200 files are in a certain dir (or set of dirs) you can submit the dirs.

How are you creating the file list for deployment (assuming you are using file list deployment), we had an issue some time back when comma seperated list with too many files was giving issue.
We changed that with newline and it started working.

If the number of files are more then there's some problem.. we also faced the same issue sometimes back... then we decided to deploy files in clusters.. like 50 files at a time...

By default the workflow engine passes the files to externaltask as command line arguments, so check if this option is turned off or not in iw.cfg you should set external_task_add_filelist=false in the [workflow] section to disable it.

I did face this issue on windows when the number files attached to the workflow are more than 100.
