Mergin two DCTs

Hi,
I have two DCTs..which i want to include it in another DCT.
i.e. When I click on New form entry of third DCT it shuld show all the items of both the DCTs

I m using Teansite 6.5
Is ther any Tag which can be used directly in DCT to include other DCTs..

Please help me out with this..

Can you explain your requirement a bit more. If you just want the dct items then can create an inline call from the your dct and keep the fields for both other dct's in an ipl file.

There are ways to achieve this... Can you please provide some details as you just want to include elements or you want to make a call to those DCTs.. ??

Can't you make the two dct's into the one which you are trying to create ?
One way around is to use a callout to embed another dcr into your current dcr.
Please state your actual purpose of doing this.

Another issue in same line is, if have to include 2 DCRs in another DCT can I do this using callout , If yes how?

There are 2 things here
DCT - you can not include (no Straight forward way to do this)
DCR - you can include dcr into another one, there are various ways to do it, one of them is through cgi callout.

You can refer to the formapi pdf document provided by Interwoven.

I think you have that a bit backwards.

DCTs can utilize the <inline> directive to run a command to include DCT code from another file into the current DCT. If you truly want to include another DCT you would have to do some pre-processing first to strip off the outer-most information before wrapping the rest within a <substitution>...</substitution> container and outputting it - but it's certainly possible (you'd probably want to strip out everything up-to-and-including the root-container of the to-be-included DCT)

DCRs do not include other DCRs - they can reference them though - I put together a prototype for my current customer that does just this - with a combination of callout button and CallServer FormAPI code - such that they can launch a secondary Edit DCR session on a referenced DCR from within the first Edit DCR session of the referencing DCR (it actually does more than that, because if you don't have the referenced DCR specified it figures out what it should be named [based on fields in the first DCR] and what type of DCR it should be [based on DCT information] and creates the DCR on-the-fly and fills in the reference field before launching the Edit DCR session... but I digress)

And then, at the end of the food-chain, you can have a PT that (a) can include other PTs and (b) can reference multiple DCRs.
