Populate the DCT fields on radio button selection

Hi

I want to populate the DCT fields on the selection of radio button. for example i have 3 radio buttons when open the form, based on the selection of radio button, the fields should populate.

I know that can be done using form api but i need a start if someone could guide me.

Hi Salim,

This can be done in many ways. You can use the form api to hide/unhide the desired filelds on catching the checked event of the radio button.
There are many post related to your issue, you can look at them and come again with more specific questions to have a better answer.

My req is quite simple, Following are my radio button options will appear when the form (template) will open. So if user selects "Life Insurance" the fields of various life insurance will populate. if user selects Mutual funds, the those fields should populate.

Please let me know. I know will create a perm hide field on the DCT which is not fit here in this req.

Let me state your requirement as I understand it.

1) You do not want any fields related to the radio buttons to be displayed initially.
2) The user can select/deselect the radio buttons any number of times and depending on that the fields should get populated.
right ?

If you are accessing database to retrieve values to be shown in the fields, then I would suggest you to use the form api to hide/unhide the fields on selection. Can I know what is limiting you ?

Do you really mean "populate" - or do you mean "expose" / "be visible" (and the others would "hide" / "be invisible") ?

Populate implies filling values into fields.
Expose/Hide implies determining which fields should be displayed to the user for them to fill values / select options within.

Both can be done - both generally assume that you take the time to read the manuals, perhaps search through DevNet, possibly take an Interwoven training course - and then attempt to write the code for doing it yourself first. Once you have tried, if you are having problems - you need to post code in order for someone to help review and provide fixes.
