OD adding carriage returns to code
mogoo
Has anyone gotten extra carriage returns in the code of templated pages after they've been deployed through OD? What causes this? It's affecting the page in Netscape.
Thanks for any suggestions!

When you say "templated pages", do you mean HTML pages that were generated by TeamSite Templates? (i.e. DCR + TPL --> HTML) ?
Because I don't think it is likely that OpenDeploy knows the difference between HTML generated from a TeamSite template and HTML generated from DreamWeaver or HotMetal or something like that. So, if you're
just
seeing the spaces on those HTML pages that you generate with TeamSite templates, I'd check out what the HTML looks like after it is generated but
before
you deploy it. . .

Thanks, Tom. Yes, it is the HTML pages that were generated from templates. I think we've narrowed down the problem, it happens with emergency deploys. Apparently, OD is deploying the files in binary mode vs. ascii. It's something that has to be changed in the deploy script.

just wondering if somebody has figured the switch for binary/ascii mode. I have the same problem on my side.

This was actually happening BEFORE the deploy, and was solved by running dos2unix on the files to remove any ^M's. We've worked the running of dos2unix into our workflow.

I am experiencing this issue now also, argh! it has appears to have occured since we configured event server...anytime we save a dcr now it has carriage returns. is there anyway to disable this?

Eric - you were experiencing issues with templating saving DCRs with newlines due to the print_print_dcrs option - which was resolved in your other thread.
This is completely different than what was being discussed in this thread, where the claim was that OpenDeploy was adding newlines to files that were deployed.

I thought my issue might be related since the other user did say this was actually happening before the deploy. i did a search thru the forums and technotes and didnt see anything about that pretty_print_dcrs=true setting
we have always had ours set to "true" but it didnt start inserting the carriage returns until after we configured the event server. is this the normal behaviour?

My guess is that whenever that setting was put into your iw.cfg file, the server wasn't re-started and/or an iwreset -ui wasn't performed, and that the advent of enabling the event server forced the iwreset -ui which then triggered the change to the way DCRs get saved.
