User A edits/creates a xmlcontent in a workarea, user B tries to edit the file & gets the error "File is already locked by 'user A' in this workarea." We use submit locking. Content writers in the same workarea could edit each others files until we upgraded from TS 6.0 to TS 6.1. What could be the possible cause..

What role does user A and user B has looged in ?
If the file is locked by user A, then other user has to unlock it first and then edit it in case of Submit Locking.
What is your case scenario ?

User A & B logs in as editor. Even if the content is locked by user A, when User B could override the lock & edit the file. That was how it worked while we were on TS 6.0.
Expected result is: Any user who has access to the workarea should be able to edit the content irrespective of the lock.

I think Actions -> Unlock should work if you are logged in as an editor. Can you please post your screen shot... ??

Editor role users can't edit locked file or unlock. See the screenshots..

User A has to release the lock before a user in editor role can edit the file because the user in editor role(i.e User

cannot unlock the file thru Action->Unlock.

Its not working in TS 6.1 as it is not supposed to. In TS 6.1 the Submit Locking model doesn't allow the editor to unlock a file locked by any other user.
Look for the KB articles for more details,One such case this was reported to be resolved in the future releases of TS 6.x.

The situation here is different from the KB 50448. The KB refers to same content existing in multiple workareas.
The users A & B are referring to the same content say 123_abc.xml, where this xml file is created by user A & it got locked. The user B now tries to edit the file & is unable to do so. Unlock permission too is denied. (User A & B have editor access to this workarea)

In TS 6.1 the Editor cannot unlock a file already locked by any other user in case of Submit Locking. A locked file can be unlocked and edited by any user with a role of Administrator or above.
As in your case the role is that of an Editor, so they will see the unlock link as disabled as they do not have the permission to unlock any file, unless they are the owner of that file.
In general, even the Administrator has to unlock the already locked file first and then edit it.

Thanks Pawan. Can you confirm if this functionality was added in TS 6.1, as we could let any user using a workarea to override the lock in TS 6.0.
