Image Alternate Text

This is not a TeamSite question, but this is one of the most active forums i know Smiley Happy

When the 'alt' attribute of img tag is used, the alternate text is displayed when the image fails to load, within the Image Frame and with a cross mark.

How can i avoid the cross mark Or replace the image frame with text when the image fails to load?

Not possible to play with the explorer properties... as whenever it sees a img tag .. it creates a placeholder for the same.

Hi Vid,

It can be achieved but has to be server-side. You can have a routine that scans the page for img tags, and checks the existence of the image(s), and replace it with a default image or do not write the img tag at all - all on the server before the page ever gets to the browser.

So just to underline - server is the place to fix the problem.

This is how the problem was fixed. Basically checked whether the image exists at the server or not, before displaying.
