Shared to External Users oddity

I think there may be a bug with how documents shared to external users are indicated in Desksite (Environment: WinXP SP2 & Desksite 8.2.98).
Repro: Provide an 'external user' with access to an existing document by editing the profile. Profile form updates with 'Shared to external user' icon and text. Save profile, and then the document list displays the same icon.
Check-out the document (either by opening or right-clicking, etc) and check-in again. The icon does not display in the document list.
Edit the profile and save (without making any profile or security changes) and the icon reappears.
(Note: FileSite 8.02.98 exhibits the same behaviour.)
Is anyone else able to reproduce this behaviour? If it is a bug, how and to whom should I report it?
