Database storage or not

Hi
We have existing Media Release site, Teamsite will generate HTML and deploy into front server, and it will generate the Release front page contains 20 article , hyperlink and one archive page (it is a long list)

Rightnow, we want provide a search function and archive page sort in month/year.

so should we keep in same strategy, generate content and index page , archive page,

or we should put all the release into database, it seems more easily to implement
which way is the most standard to do ?
