routine BS maintenance

Hi There,

I'm looking for a good routine maintenance to run on our TS BackingStore (BS). I'd like to set up a maintenance schedule once a month to check the BS fix any issues and then shrink down where possible. I'm thinking of using the following commands.

iwfsck - Diagnoses backing store problems. page 30
iwfsfix - Fixes problems found by iwfsck. page 33
iwfsshrink - Finds and removes duplicate data in the
backing store.

Does anyone have any recommendations? or care to share what your organization is doing around routine maintenance? I'd like to see specific commands and options that are run and an explanation of why that approach was taken if possible.

Hi Brian,

Hopefully some other customers will chime in here as well. There are some recommended maintenance procedures available in the knowledge base on support: https://support.interwoven.com/kb/kb_show_article2.asp?ArticleID=57603

The KB has information about checking logs/running and testing backups. If you would like more information about this documented, let us know what you'd like to hear about.

Currently at this time we don't strongly recommend running iwfsfix. If your iwfsck comes back with error messages, you should contact support before running iwfsfix. This is just in case the error is worse than it appears and you might be running the risk of backing store corruption.
