Multiple onSave events

Hi all,

I'm trying to trigger two functions using addFormHandler in my formapi section:

IWEventRegistry.addFormHandler("onSave",ParagraphsReplicantID);
IWEventRegistry.addFormHandler("onSave",saveH);

But I cant get them running together whicheverone is the lower one of both of them will work. the ParagraphsReplicantID() sets the replicant numbers into hidden fields and the saveH() sets the dcrName based on an item. Any idea how to get them running together? I either get the dcr saved or the replicants set but not together. When the replicants are set then I get an HTTP STATUS 500.

any help is appreciated.

What if you were to call function 2 from function 1? For instance:

IWEventRegistry.addFormHandler("onSave",ParagraphsReplicantID);
IWEventRegistry.addFormHandler("onSave",saveH);
...
function ParagraphsReplicantID() {
...
return saveH();
}

function saveH() {
...
return true;
}

I'm dealing with a similar situation but unfortunately, multiple [asynchronous] callServers are involved which forces me to have the JS output communicate to other JS functions, etc.

Do I miss something here or all you need really is one handler that calls two functions?

Btw, you can not assign different handlers to the same event.

No, I like your suggestion! I'm just saying that it doesn't address when you need the functions to be called in sequence. Like I mentioned, I was dealing with this **** recently (i.e. multiple callServers communicating with each other) but I got it working beautifully earlier today. I still don't know what I did and I don't think it should work but it does. Oh, well.

Ah... Let me clarify a little than. As is, it does not address the case where asynchronous functions must be called sequentially.

in this scenario it sets the replicantid#s but struggles to save the dcr. It gives and http status 500 in the top of the dcr. weired.

i think all approaches would work if this would work:
Of course I have the function only once but the return value seems to be lost in my for-loops. version 1 with the "return true" at the end will not work and throw the 500 error. Version 2 with the "return true" at the top will work and save the dcr. Any ideas? Thanks

Wait, am I missing something? How are you getting a 500 error? You're not requesting anything from the server, it's all on the client side. So, why would you be getting a server side error?

Your function seems unnecessary complex. Something like the following may be easier to debug

This is what worked for me. Please note the following line:

not working var obj = IWDatacapture.getItem("/Paragraphs[" + i + "]/Links[" + j + "]/ParagraphsReplicantID").setValue(repID);

It allows you to register as many functions for a handler as you want.
