Turning off VF or TinyMCE "scrubber"

Okay, I've seen lots of threads on this but they seem to come to a final conclusion.

Is it possible to turn off the auto-clean functionality for either of the following products in TeamSite 6.7.1 in W2K3.

1) Visual Format
2) TinyMCE (internal TS version)

For VF, I've played with the js and config files and tried to follow the steps stated on these forums as well as the manuals by turning down the level of cleaning that is done (XHTML, CleanHTML and Minimal are the three types I believe) but it still wipes out all my content when I switch from Source to WYSIWYG mode in VF. TinyMCE has the feature to turn off this functionality but it does not seem to be implemented with the TS version.

I'm looking for the whole Rich Text editor experience without the "auto cleaning scripts being run in the background" annoyances

Any help would be appreciated...

For VFE, you have not mentioned "publishviewassource" attribute of the <standard> tag, see for example here.

That said, if you post a sample that gets messed up by VFE (before and after), I'll try it with my configuration.
I'm able to retain proprietary XML with Source/WYSIWYG toggle , note however that my version is 6.5

Thanks for the info ISCBorisB.

The "publishviewassource" attribute of the tag is set to true as that is our current workaround to the problem we are facing. Our client simply drops in the html (which is not complete - see the file I've attached - example.txt).

To answer the question you surely will ask - which is"Why do you want to publish this malformed HTML?". We do so because we publish our website in pieces. The piece that I've provided is part of our navigation and we then use a content piece and a footer pieces (which are combined on a front end application) to create well formed HTML page.

The problem is that when we try to switch to the WYSIWYG mode, it determines that there is no tag or tag.

I've tried your sample and got pretty much the same manifestation using my VFE configuration Files.
I also have publishviewassource="true" so mshtml.dll must be out of the picture. No better ideas...

Thanks for trying - I came to the same conclusion and I then tried using the internal TeamSite version of TinyMCE which is now supported in TS 6.7.1 - I read all the documentation and there is a feature that you can set to turn the cleaning off. The value that you would use is:

tinyMCE.init({
...
cleanup : false
});

From what I can tell though, the only customizations that can be done for the internal version of TinyMCE is the toolbar/styles (which are made in the \iw-home\httpd\iw\tinymce\config\custom_config.js file)

This is based on one of the disadvantages that I read on a tech note in the support area.

Looks that way. Ektron pretty much issued a welfare check to themselves.

If I read their article correctly it means "Hey, guys... MS First (mshtml.dll), Ektron next. You do not like that, bother Microsoft, not us."
You may try your luck with dev.ektron.com but I think it's hopeless

An alternative to consider is of course to modify your Front-end Assembly line so that it takes
*well(better?)-formed* fragments and brackets them into proper HTML. You will not be the first one to
modify FE for CMS benefits. I'm sure you've contemplated it though.

Okay.. I used an CGI callout on my DCT to call the attached script (which Valentine has generously provided on a previous post {hat tip}) which is located in my iw-bin directory. I then copied the entire TinyMCE directory - starting from c:\iw-home\httpd\iw\tinyMCE\jscripts\ to my iw-bin folder so I have the necessary js scripts and theme/lang subdirectories.

So when I click on my "edit html" button on my DCT, the following happens:

I get my popup screen but I then get the following error show on my screen:

"Error: Could not find the template function: TinyMCE_simple_getEditorTemplate"

When I click ok, I have no TinyMCE editor - just an plain empty box. I did some searches on the web and it seems to be an error that shows up on IE (surprise surprise) but not on FF.

I tried changing the theme to default, simple and advanced but I get the error that I stated above with the identified theme I am trying to use -
ie.

"Error: Could not find the template function: TinyMCE_default_getEditorTemplate"
"Error: Could not find the template function: TinyMCE_advanced_getEditorTemplate"

Has anyone come across this and resolved this?

Still using TS 671 on W2K3

You can turn cleanup off and other tinymce options in SP1.
Not sure about VF though.

In SP1, VF supports custom xsltfilters for cleaning. You should also look at developerguide.pdf in the VF distro to check out the "clean" element of vfconfig.

@FurnaceFace: You have to include all the jses not only tiny_mce_src.js. So all the plugins as well as the themes should be included..
