I have to change the validation on a browser item, depending on the selection of a radio button. Depending on whether an image/flash file is selected the browser field has to take a .jpg / .swf extension

I have used IWItem.setRegex(/jpg$/) when an image is selected.
However save is completed even if extension is not jpg. what is the problem here?

Check the sequence of events occuring on click of save or calling your user-defined function(s). Where is this IWItem.setRegex(/jpg$/) called in your code ?

The value of the radio button is used in the presentaiton template to choose an appropriate tag (img / object) to be used to display the image or flash file.

The user defined function in which IWItem.setRegex(/jpg$) is called, when the form loads as well as when the radio button value changes.
It would be helpful if i can also call the function once the user has made changes to the 'browse' field which has the path to the .swf/.jpg. How can this be done?

Any suggestions as to how this fieldcan be validated without the use of setRegex would be ver helpful. Hope i have answered all your questions

You have answered most of the queries, however it would be still better if the snippet of your DCT and Script would be attached along.

Might be the regex you are using is not completing the requirement... as a person can make mistake in making the command, whereas the system would always work as per the given command. It may be incorrect as well.
