error while installing TS search 2.1.0 Patch 2

Hi,
i was trying to install patch2 on search 2.1.0 and it is getting me errors:
the error is a java exception white creating process iwgethome with error=2

i thought search should use iwsrchgethome ? not iwgethome?
in my case i have the search on its own server not on the same server as teamsite...
any ideas how to get over this issue?

Does "iwsrchgethome" work from the search Server command line? If "yes", you can *fake* it by creating a wrapper
iwgethome.cmd that calls iwsrchgethome. Save it so that its location is *listed* in Path Env and try again.

That said, something is very fishy here. Installer is smart enough to know that it's working in non-TS environment.
Have you installed/un-installed multiple times on that box? If I were you, I would contact support.

the box has Opendeploy and search, i never had TS on it... i did have TS search 1.0.0 and i upgraded that to 2.1.0...

KB Article you've mentioned provides all fixes you need, looks like. So, you do not have to *fake* anything.
For your personal *bag of tricks* - to do some mascarading like that use *.cmd, not *.bat. The File should contain Windows shell script.

yes, even they said "the fix is only for 6.5" it still worked for me on 6.7.1 and srch 2.1.0 Smiley Very Happy

I've run into the same issue with applying patch 1789 on a standalone TeamSite Search 2.1.0 Windows 2003 implementation and am working with IWOV Support on it for their "official" fix.

i havent had any problems since i implemented the fix for 6.5... you should just try that fix if IWOV takes too long to get you a new "official" fix.

Took a little while to convince them that this was occurring but it was noted as a bug and here are the steps to correct (until a KB article or patch specific to 6.7.1 documents it):
1) Copy \Windows\System32\iwgethome.exe for TeamSite server to same location on TeamSite Search server
2) Stop TeamSite Search and Indexer services.
3) Complete the Search SP or Patch installation (you should not see the above error)
4) Delete the \Windows\System32\iwgethome.exe binary on TeamSite Search server. If you need to apply another broken SP or Patch (see the matrix above), please repeat the whole procedure of "fooling" the installer with the fake binary.
5) Start TeamSite Search and Indexer

You should be starting a new thread stating what are the errors that you are receiving. What is in the logs, what have you tried, etc...
