I would like to know if there are any known issues with Solaris 10 username lengths and TeamSite. In particular is there a problem using usernames longer than 8 characters? Our environment is TeamSite 6.7.1 , OpenDeploy 6.1.1 and Search.
There is a different support article 49723 below which says to stick to 8 character usernames. Does this still apply to Solaris 10?SynopsisThis article explains using longer usernames than the Operating System supoprts on Solaris 8. DetailsThere should not be any problem caused by using login names that are longer than 8 characaters on Solaris 8, but this is not officially supported. The Solaris 8 documentation says that login names should be no more than 8 characters in length. (LOGNAME_MAX in /usr/include/limits.h.) TeamSite's internal data structures can handle login names up to 20 characters in length, so it will most likely be fine to use names that are longer than 8 characters, but we do not do any testing on Solaris with login names that are longer than the legal limit of 8 characters. As always, it is best to keep within the constraints f the operating system.
