Multiple Timeouts

Hi,

I have a requirement for a grouptask.
1. after every 1 hour send reminder mail.
2. after 24 hours send escalation mail and end the task.

One works fine with the timeout, how can i incorporate the second without making lot of changes, i do not want want to go into complex external task.

any combination of DummyTask/Timeouts ????? ideas on this would be helpful and appreciated.

Moiz,

What i suggest is you to have a combo of 3 tasks; dummy, external and group. Your group task would be active by its predecessor along with dummy task which would be parellel tasks. The dummy task should have a timeout of one hour everytime it becomes active.

After an hour it should make external task active which does read the users who all share the group task so that mail can be send. It should also set a job variable which would be updated by 1 each time external task would run, making it working as a clock of 24 hours.

This shouldn't be that difficult - the main problem is that you need a wrapper surrounding the email functionality (long ago I meant to re-write iwsend_mail.ipl and/or iw_solution_mail.ipl as a module .... but I never did [so far] ...)

Basically you use an externaltask with a task-level variable (initialized to 0 within the wft) that counts how many times it's been called and does different things (usually using other task-level variables).
