OD 5.5.1 (SP1) Service stops

We are testing OD 5.5.1 (SP1) and we're having trouble with the OD service 'going away'. One time the base server service stopped - nothing in the log file. Now I have some receivers that are no longer responding.

The deployment that I'm running has about 5 legs to 6 different servers.

Can deployments be setup to run sequentially instead of in parallel?
